I am Inger, exchange student from Norway. I am 17 now, but will turn 18, finally in June. Lucky or not I live in Tuen Mun, somewhere far away from Hong Kong Island, but for those who haven't been there: it's not that bad. I go to a Catholic school, with Holger.. It?s very strict, we are not even allowed to use hairgel, CRAZY? . My family is GREAT, that explain why I haven't change family...yet. However I have some language problems since my parents don't speak any English, expect for "yes, very good", so I have to speak Cantonese, but still my Cantonese is VERY BAD. But I am trying :Cantonese lessons and self-studying. Actually my biggest aim when I came to Hong Kong was to learn Cantonese, but I have to say : it's just TOO DIFFICULT. For 6 months I had only one younger sister Emily, which I shared room with, but in January my older sister Louise came home from England and in May my older brother Jason will come back also from England. My flat is small, big surprise, but now I am used to having no private life, and it's OK, at least only for one year. There's actually not much to say...I feel I have spend most of my time exercising, stay at school and go shopping, and of course spending quality time with my family. About culture shock I think I was in shock all the time the three first months.. Hong Kong people are CRAZY, but I have to say I really like Hong Kong...THE END.

 FAVOURITE PLACE/WHY:
I think it must be my Fitness Center, because it's always full of super handsome Chinese boys.
(note from ed; and we thought the gained kilos where the reason you went there)
  CULTURE SHOCK, FUNNY SITUATIONS:
A lot of culture shock. The schools, family-life, people's attitude. The biggest surprise for me was maybe that Hong Kong is almost 50 years behind Norway in many ways, but you can get the impression that Hong Kong is very modern.
FRIENDS YOU MADE IN HONG KONG:
Well, as you all know Hong Kong is full of crazy people. I think the best friend I made in Hong Kong is Manura, she's in my class and she is totally crazy, but I am sure I will miss her.

WHAT DID YOU SPEND YOUR MONEY ON:
Shoes and clothes. There is a incredibly large amount of shoe-and clothes shops in Hong Kong. The first week I was in paradise, but that was as long as the clothes fitted me..
 ?
 BIGGEST MISUNDERSTANDING:
I don't know.
HOW MANY TIMES WHERE YOU LOST?
Actually I haven't been lost so many times. I just remember it took me at least two weeks to find my house, because there are around 10 houses with the same play-ground outside that look exactly the same.

HOMESICK?

I have been most homesick after new-year, have no idea why. Only a few times actually, maybe because my family in Hong Kong is much better than in Norway. But I miss my friends though..

MOST DISGUSTING/FAVOURITE FOOD
I like most of the food here, and I have been punished for that, but the best of all the delicious food is maybe fried rice, very simple. The most disgusting food is definitely octopus and cow-stomach. It's not that the taste is that bad, but it's just so disgusting because it takes ages to chew...
